Communities First

Communities First is the Welsh Assembly Government’s flagship programme to improve the living conditions and prospects of people in the most disadvantaged communities across Wales.

Communities First provides opportunities for people living in areas we term to be disadvantaged, and the agencies that deliver services in those communities.

It is new and different in a number of ways:
it is a long term programme and will run for at least ten years
local people themselves decide what is needed and are helped to make it happen.
Communities First aims to:
get local people involved in improving their areas and their own prospects
bring in funding and support from a range of sources to make things happen
make sure improvements last
encourage flexibility, risk-taking and new ways of dealing with problems
involve everyone working together to identify and do something about their community's problems.

Trafnidiaeth Canolbarth Cymru (TraCC)

What does TraCC do?
TraCC brings together the highways and public transport functions of the three local authorities to provide specific regional solutions to local integrated transport issues.
The Consortium assists the Welsh Assembly Government in delivering its national integrated transport policies on a regional basis. TraCC's first significant task was to prepare its Regional Public Transport Strategy. This was submitted to the Welsh Assembly Government in June 2003.

The TraCC Vision is:
"To plan for and deliver in partnership an integrated transport system in the TraCC region that facilitates economic development, ensures access for all to services and opportunities, sustains and improves the quality of community life and respects the environment".

The purpose of the Trust is to support any type of activity that involves local people, through small community organisations, that benefits their community.

The National Lottery

For every £1 that the public spends on Lottery tickets 28 pence goes to the Lottery good causes. These are the arts, charities and voluntary groups, heritage, health, education, the environment and sports.
Lottery funders are the organisations that distribute the good causes money to local communities and national projects.

Type of work funded

The Awards for All scheme funds projects that improve communities and the lives of people within them.

The type of work and types of groups that can be funded vary between England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales, so you should check what is available in your country before you apply.
