Re: Ystwyth Transport – the Thursday Cwmystwyth-Aberystwyth Service

I would like to say how grateful I am for everyone involved in running this excellent service. Since my husband dBws Y Bryniau - Mrs Elisabeth Morleyied just over a year ago, it has been a lifeline to me. I live in Trisant. I am 70 years old; I do not drive a car. Apart from the Thursday bus, the only way I can get to Aberystwyth from my house is by taxi, which costs me £50 return, unavoidable in the case of attendance at hospital outpatient clinics, unless they happen to fall on a Thursday. I try to arrange all other appointments and meetings with friends for the middle hours of Thursday. This arrangement works perfectly for me. The bus picks me up outside my house at 10.30 am and drops me off at home with my shopping at 3 pm. The volunteer drivers are very kind, helpful and friendly. I cannot thank them enough. I would be very sad if we ever lost this wonderful service. I hope we never do, as so many people rely on it.

Thank you very much.

“Bws y Bryniau is a valuable service providing access to shops and services in Aberystwyth for non car drivers and others, it also allows an opportunity to share local news and develop new friendships.”

“ I have nothing but good to say about the weekly Bws Y Bro Service. I look forward to Fridays as it lifts my spirits as it gives me the opportunity to socialise with friends. It’s the best thing that’s happened to me since becoming disabled.”
Nan Howells, Capel Bangor

The Bws Bro route gives these ladies the opportunity to shop and socialise as many live in rural areas and are unable to drive. This weekly scheme is provided by volunteer drivers who give a personal and friendly door to door service.
